About GondolaTour Venice

GondolaTour Venice exists to answer one narrow set of questions well: what a gondola ride in Venice costs, where to board one, which version is worth booking, and what the alternatives on the water are. Everything on the site is written for travellers planning a trip, not for search engines and not for the tourism industry.

What we are

An independent editorial project, published in English and Italian, covering gondola rides, traghetto crossings, boat tours, water taxis and public transport on the Venetian lagoon. Every page is researched and written by people who work in the tickets and tours field and check what they publish against primary sources.

What we are not

We are not affiliated with the Comune di Venezia, the Ente Gondola, or any gondolier cooperative or stazio. We do not represent them, speak for them, or take instructions from them. We are also not a ticket seller: we hold no inventory, take no payments and manage no bookings. When you book, you book with a platform, and your contract is with that platform.

If a page here ever reads as though it comes from the official gondola service, that is a failure on our part. Tell us and we will fix it.

How we verify prices

Two sources, kept separate on purpose.

• Official tariff. The per-boat rate for a standard ride is set by the Comune di Venezia (Ente Gondola) and cross-checked against the city’s published tariff. We always state it per boat and per time band, never per person, because that is how it is actually charged.
• Partner product data. Prices, ratings, review counts and durations for bookable products come from live data feeds supplied by our partner platforms and refreshed regularly. Each page says when the data behind it was checked; the set used for this version was pulled on 9 September 2026.

Live prices move. A figure that was right when the feed ran can be wrong by the time you click, so we write “from” prices and ask you to confirm on the product page before paying.

Affiliate disclosure

GondolaTour Venice is free to read because it is funded by affiliate commission. If you book through a partner link or an embedded booking widget on this site — GetYourGuide, Tiqets or Headout — we may earn a commission. You pay exactly the same as you would booking direct; nothing is added to your price.

Commission does not buy coverage or ranking. We are not partnered with Viator, and we still describe it neutrally where it is relevant, because a comparison that hides the competition is not a comparison.

Editorial standards

• No invented facts. If we cannot verify a number, we leave it out or mark it as unverified rather than guessing.
• Prices are attributed: official tariff to the Comune di Venezia, product prices to the platform and the date they were checked.
• Weaknesses get written down. Every platform comparison on this site names what each one is worst at.
• No first-person travel fiction, no filler paragraphs, no advice we would not give a friend.
• Pages are updated when the data or the facts change, and the update date is shown on each one.

We read every message and we would rather fix an error quickly than defend it.
