Klook in Venice: Platform Review

Klook is an activities and travel-services platform founded in Hong Kong in September 2014 by Ethan Lin and Eric Gnock Fah. It grew up selling day trips, attraction tickets and transport passes to travellers moving around Asia, and it is still strongest there. We do not partner with Klook, so this page sets out what it is, what you can verify about how it takes payment and handles refunds, and where a Venice gondola booking is better placed.

Who Klook is

Klook is privately held, headquartered in Hong Kong, and has raised in the region of $900 million across successive rounds, including a $210 million round in December 2023. Its own about page describes a catalogue spanning thousands of destinations with local teams sourcing experiences. Its commercial centre of gravity is Asia-Pacific: after 2020 the company leaned into domestic travel, with particular weight on South Korea, Taiwan and Australia, and it markets heavily to younger Asian travellers.

Its Trustpilot profile, which we read on 10 September 2026, shows a TrustScore of 4.5 out of 5 from 28,568 reviews, with the company replying to 100% of negative reviews. As with any Trustpilot page, the sample is self-selecting, so read it as a signal about support responsiveness rather than about a specific gondola.

Why it matters for travellers from Asia booking Venice

The gondola is the same gondola whichever site sells it. What changes between platforms, for a traveller flying in from Seoul, Taipei, Singapore or Tokyo, is the friction around the booking. Klook’s advantage is that it removes most of it.

Payment. Klook accepts Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express, UnionPay, Discover, Diners Club, Cartes Bancaires and Korean local cards, plus an unusually long e-wallet list: Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Alipay, WeChat Pay, Line Pay, Kakao Pay, Payco, Naver Pay, GrabPay, Octopus, PayMe, GCash, TrueMoney, Touch ‘n Go, PayPay, iDEAL and more. Availability depends on currency, location, amount and product type, and a payment cannot be split across two methods. If your card sits outside the Visa and Mastercard mainstream, this is the reason to look here first.

Currency. Its help pages list 51 accepted currencies, euro among them, switchable from the top navigation bar or from Settings in the app. Unlisted currencies default to US dollars, or Singapore dollars in parts of Southeast Asia. Check which currency is showing before you compare a price against the euro figures on this site.

Language. Klook runs localised versions of its site in a range of Asian and European languages, switchable from the top navigation bar or from Settings in the app. It publishes neither a count of interface languages nor opening hours for its live chat, so do not assume support in your own language is staffed around the clock: open a chat before you book rather than after, and you will find out what is actually available.

The catalogue, in general terms

Klook’s Europe listings are broad but shallower than its Asian coverage: city passes, museum tickets, airport transfers, day trips and the standard sightseeing products. We cannot tell you how many Venice gondola listings it holds or what they cost, because Klook’s city and search pages returned 403 to every automated request we made, and the platform publishes no catalogue figures of its own. Treat any gondola count or price you see quoted for Klook — here or anywhere else — as unverified until you have the search page in front of you.

What we can say is what the underlying product must be. Venice has around 400 licensed gondoliers working from the official stands, and no gondolier sells online directly. A handful of local suppliers package boat time and distribute it to every platform that will list it, which is why the same 30-minute shared ride surfaces under different titles across the market. Beneath every version sits the tariff set by the Comune di Venezia: €90 per gondola for 30 minutes between 09:00 and 19:00, €110 for 35 minutes after 19:00, up to five passengers. Cancellation, as published

Klook sorts activities into three cancellation types, and the type is shown on the activity page and on your voucher:

Nothing is refundable once the activity has been completed, and a cancelled voucher cannot be reused. That is a clear structure — but it means the badge on the listing decides everything, so read it before paying rather than assuming a 24-hour window.

When Klook suits you — and when it does not

Book here if Klook is already your travel app, if it takes a payment method the European platforms do not, or if you want your Venice activities on the same account as the rest of an Asia-to-Europe itinerary. Its support record on Trustpilot is strong and the refund rules are stated plainly.

Look elsewhere when you want depth: evening slots on the €110 tariff, private boats, serenade rides or gondola-and-museum combinations.
